If you’ve already decided on Turkey but you’re stuck between Antalya, Bodrum and Dalaman, you’re not alone. This is probably the most common question we get.
All three are great, but they offer very different types of holidays. The right one depends on how you like to travel, not just the price.
If you want a straightforward, good-value holiday where everything is taken care of, Antalya is usually the safest choice.
Around areas like Lara, Belek, Side and Alanya, you’ll find:
Large, well-equipped hotels (many all-inclusive)
Long beaches and resort-style setups
Plenty for families: pools, slides, kids’ clubs
This is where Turkey really excels for UK travellers. Hotels are built for comfort, and you don’t need to plan much once you arrive.
There’s also more to it than just resorts. The old town of Kaleiçi gives you cobbled streets, marina views and a bit of history alongside the beach. Kaleiçi
Best for you if:
You want all-inclusive and good value
You’re travelling with kids
You prefer everything in one place
Bodrum feels completely different. It’s more about atmosphere, restaurants, beach clubs and a slightly more “upmarket” feel.
You’ll notice:
Boutique hotels and stylish resorts
Beach clubs, marinas and nightlife
A mix of local charm and international crowd
Areas like Türkbükü are known for their more exclusive feel and lively evenings. Türkbükü
Bodrum is not usually the cheapest option, but people choose it for the vibe rather than just price.
Best for you if:
You want restaurants, bars and a bit of nightlife
You prefer boutique hotels over large resorts
You like a more “European-style” holiday feel
When people say “Dalaman”, they’re really talking about the wider region: Fethiye, Ölüdeniz, Marmaris and smaller places like Göcek.
This area is greener, more scenic and feels less “resort-heavy” than Antalya.
You get:
Stunning beaches and natural scenery
A mix of hotels, apartments and villas
A more relaxed, outdoorsy atmosphere
Places like Kalkan and Fethiye are especially popular for their views, smaller scale and laid-back feel. Kalkan
Best for you if:
You want a mix of beach and exploring
You like smaller towns and scenery
You don’t need full all-inclusive
If we simplify it the way we usually do:
Go for Antalya if you want easy, all-inclusive, family-friendly and good value.
Go for Bodrum if you want style, nightlife and a more premium feel.
Go for the Dalaman area if you want scenery, variety and a more relaxed pace.
There isn’t a “better” option overall. It’s about matching the destination to how you actually like to spend your time on holiday.
If you’re unsure, the easiest way to decide is to think about your days:
Do you see yourself mostly at the hotel, exploring different places, or out in the evenings?
Once that’s clear, the right area usually becomes obvious.
