Tour Itinerary

Day 1:

- We will fly to Trabzon Airport with a transit flight via Istanbul

- We will then have an authentic regional breakfast to wind down and relax

- We take the bus to Atatürk's Pavilion in Trabzon and visit the old jewellery studio where the master artisan will tell us about the jewellery making technique called Kazaziye

- We will then visit the Hagia Sophia in Trabzon, an old Greek Orthodox Church that was converted into a mosque in 1584, said to be "one of the finest examples of Byzantine architecture." Hagia Sophia was also used as a hospital during the 1st World War. 

Lunch break: We will have delicious, sizzling grilled kofta (speciality of the area) with a view of the Zigana Mountains in the fresh, open air. We will then move onto Hamsiköy, where we will also enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Black Sea in Spring while we eat the traditional Turkish rice pudding Sütlaç.

- After lunch, we will visit the Sumela Monastery, a Greek Orthodox monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary that was founded in AD 386 by a monk. In the monastery we see the chapel, kitchen, student rooms, guest rooms, library, and the holy springs. (If the monastery is closed due to restoration works, we will stop by the entrance with our guide where he will explain its history) 

- We will then go back to our hotel to have dinner and rest

Day 2: 

- After we have breakfast at the hotel, we will drive along the coast and visit the kemancha museum in Görele 

- We will then head to Giresun to see the Kuzalan Waterfall and Mavigöl ("Blue Lake").

- We then taste the famous 'pide' and burn the calories walking in Giresun's plateaus, reconnecting with the beautiful nature and breathing in the fresh air there 

- We come back to our hotel to have dinner and go to a traditional Black Sea live music night 

Day 3: 

- After we have breakfast at the hotel, we will visit one of the biggest tea factories in Black Sea, which is famous for its dark, red Turkish tea (hailed by the locals as "rabbit's blood" for the distinctive colour) 

- We will then visit a famous blades shop and set off to see the famous Uzungöl 

- Near Uzungöl, we will visit Ayder, known as the most gorgeous plateau in Turkey. On our way, we stop to see how traditional Laz clothes are made 

- Our final stop is Fırtına (Storm) Valley, where famous rafting professionals come from all around the world to battle the stream. You can zipline, go for rafting or pick up tea here.

- We will then have lunch at a famous restaurant to taste the traditional farina and cheese dish Muhlama, and Laz borek  

- In the evening, we will have fun with the locals their way; listening to horon and tulum (traditional instruments of the region)

The Hotel: Haşimoğlu Otel

Day 4: 

Today, we recommend our guests to wear their comfortable shoes as we will be going for a long hike, to enjoy the incredible nature sights.

- We will visit the plateaus Samistal, Kavron and the Maçkun strait. We will visit one of the oldest forests in the region.

- We will then walk to plateaus Pokut and Sal, fitting even more exercise into our tour. Our guests will have the opportunity to take as many photos as they want

- We will then have a picnic on the plateau before returning to Ayder once more

Day 5: 

- After breakfast, we will visit Şenyuva village and the medieval castle Zilkale 

- We will enjoy delicious seafood for our lunch and have another break at the Rize Castle to drink tea

- We will then return to Trabzon to fly to London from Trabzon
